Shiseido is one of the largest and oldest cosmetics companies in the world, owning brands such as Shiseido, Dolce & Gabbana, Nars, Clé de Peau Beauté, and others.
Shiseido's local office employs over 100 people, who actively use email in their business correspondence. For a long time, the company used its own email service based on Exchange Server 2007, which Microsoft discontinued support for last year, posing risks to its continued secure operation. Furthermore, limited disk space limited user mailboxes to no more than 1 GB, which was completely insufficient for normal operation in today's environment.
Management was tasked with migrating to a new version of the email server and significantly increasing mailbox size. After evaluating the costs of acquiring its own hardware, software, migration work, and ongoing maintenance, the decision was made to use cloud services.
Shiseido considered several cloud service providers, including purchasing the email service directly from Microsoft. Ultimately, the Cloud Exchange service from LanCloud was chosen. Firstly, the data center is located in the Russian Federation, in compliance with Federal Law 242 regarding personal data, and secondly, LanCloud was the only one to offer a unique solution tailored to the company's business requirements. LanCloud migrated users from the old Exchange 2007 mail server to Cloud Exchange without disrupting workflow.
As a result, all tasks were successfully completed – the transition to the new version of the mail server was completed, users were provided with 100GB mailboxes (100 times larger than before) and a more user-friendly and accessible web interface. Furthermore, there was no need to purchase servers or disk arrays to host mail databases and their backups.
Following the project, Shiseido received a feedback.
